Dr. Toan Tran is the owner and lead optometrist at North Texas Eye Clinic. Born and raised in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, he is passionate about providing personalized, comprehensive eye care and helping patients maintain healthy vision throughout their lives.
Dr. Tran earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He provides clinical care in English, Vietnamese, and Spanish, helping patients from diverse backgrounds feel comfortable and informed.
With experience in the optical industry dating back to 1999, Dr. Tran brings a unique perspective to patient care. Beginning his career as an optician, he worked in nearly every aspect of an optometry practice before becoming an eye doctor. This experience helped shape his approach to providing quality eye care, honest recommendations, and exceptional service.
Since opening his private practice in 2009, Dr. Tran has proudly served the University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, and the greater Denton community. He also serves as the Official Eye Care Specialist for UNT Athletics, providing eye care for student-athletes and athletic department staff.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Tran enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, family, and friends. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoys golfing, fitness, and coaching youth sports, where he helps young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. He is also a dedicated fan of the Dallas Mavericks, Stars, Rangers, and Cowboys.
Fun Fact: Before becoming an optometrist, Dr. Tran was also a DJ!
